Absence & Leave Policy
Regular attendance is essential for academic success. Shatavisha Public School maintains a strict policy regarding leave to ensure students do not fall behind in their studies.
1. General Attendance Rules
Unauthorized Absence: Absence without an approved leave is strictly prohibited. In cases of sudden illness or unforeseen circumstances, the school must be informed at the earliest possible opportunity.
Long-term Absence: If an unauthorized absence exceeds 15 consecutive calendar days, the student’s name may be struck off the school rolls. Readmission is not guaranteed and is subject to the Principal’s discretion.
Prohibited Leave: Leave for reasons such as birthdays, excursions, festivals, weddings, or extra time to study for examinations is not considered sufficient and will not be sanctioned.
2. Documenting Absence
Regularity Record: Upon returning to school after an absence, the reason must be briefly entered in the “Absent” column of the Regularity Record in the School Calendar.
Private Matters: If the reason for absence is of a private nature, a formal letter addressed to the Principal may be submitted in a sealed envelope.
Medical Leave: Any absence due to illness lasting two or more days must be supported by a valid Doctor’s Prescription in addition to the entry in the Regularity Record.
3. Prior Permission
Special Occasions: Leave for religious ceremonies or unique special occasions must be applied for and obtained beforehand.
Official Approval: No student should remain absent in anticipation of leave being granted; prior written approval is mandatory for planned absences.
