Library Rules & Regulations

The school library is a sanctuary for study and research. To maintain a productive environment, all students must adhere to the following regulations:

1. Entry & Conduct

  • Silence: Strict silence and perfect order must be maintained at all times.

  • Identification: A student must possess their Library Admit Card to enter the library.

  • Belongings: All personal articles and bags must be left outside. Students may only bring a single notebook (copy-book) and the library book they intend to return.

  • Resource Management: Magazines and reference books must be returned to their proper shelves after use. Reference-only books are not to be removed from the library.

2. Borrowing & Circulation

  • Lending Policy: Only one book will be issued per Library Lending Card. Students are strictly prohibited from borrowing books on another student’s card.

  • Duration: Books may be kept for a maximum of one week. No renewals are permitted.

  • Returns: Books must be returned personally to the Librarian. Borrowed books must not be circulated among other students. Unauthorized circulation may lead to a withdrawal of library privileges and a fine.

  • Vacations: No library books may be retained during Summer, Autumn, or Winter vacations.

3. Damage & Loss

  • Inspection: Before borrowing, students should inspect books for defects and notify the Librarian immediately. Failure to do so will result in the borrower being held responsible for any damage found upon return.

  • Fines: Fines will be imposed for any damage to library books or furniture.

  • Loss: Any lost book must be replaced by the borrower with a new copy of the same edition.

4. Fines & Penalties

  • Late Returns: A remark will be entered in the School Diary for every book returned late. Three such remarks will result in a general disciplinary remark and a fine of ₹50.

  • Waivers: Overdue fines may be waived only if a formal letter is provided proving the student was absent for valid reasons.

  • Lost Cards: Library cards are distributed annually in April. A lost card can be replaced upon request for a fee of ₹50.

5. Library Access

  • Class Hours: During school hours, classes may visit the library only as per the official timetable. Individual entry during class hours requires special permission from the Principal.

  • Open Hours: During designated library hours, no special permission is required provided the student presents their Library Admit Card.
